Om Parvat & Adi Kailash 2026: The Border Yatra Logistics Guide — Permits, the 4x4 Rule and a Realistic 7-Day Plan
Om Parvat — the peak whose snow lines form a natural Om — is the yatra where "planned it from Google" trips fail, because this is a restricted border zone. We run cars on the Pithoragarh-Dharchula corridor regularly; this guide is exactly what we tell our yatris on the phone: permits, the 4x4 rule, acclimatisation, and a day-by-day plan that actually works.

Stage-by-Stage Logistics
| Stage | Distance | Time | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dehradun → Haldwani | ~290 km | 6-7 hr | NH, easy |
| Haldwani → Pithoragarh | ~175-195 km | 5-6 hr | Almora scenic option |
| Pithoragarh → Dharchula | ~91 km | 3-4 hr | ILP issued here |
| Dharchula → Gunji | ~80-90 km | 4-5 hr | authorised 4x4 only |
| Gunji → Nabhidhang | ~16-21 km | ~1 hr | Om Parvat viewpoint |
| Gunji → Jolingkong | ~20-25 km | trek/4x4 | Adi Kailash + Parvati Sarovar |

The Realistic 7-Day Itinerary
1. Dehradun → Haldwani (halt)

3. → Dharchula; ILP formalities + acclimatise (1,015 m)
4. 4x4 → Gunji (Vyas Valley, Malpa)
5. Nabhidhang — Om Parvat darshan + Kuti village
6. Jolingkong — Adi Kailash/Parvati Sarovar; return Gunji
7-8. Return drive with a Chaukori viewpoint halt
Driver's tip: tell family there is no network after Tawaghat. At Gunji (3,050 m) walk slow and keep hydrating; ask your doctor about diamox. Nights run -2 to 8°C even in September.

Why Not in Monsoon?
The Kali valley road has a real landslide window in July-August — we do not recommend the yatra in monsoon weeks. In September-October the skies clear and the Om symbol is at its sharpest. On the way back you can add Kumaon-side stops. Bookings: +91 80776 11583.
